Frequently Asked Questions
We can’t answer every question about salsa, or learning to dance, on this website.
Sometimes it takes going to a class, taking some lessons, becoming proficient, meeting new people, achieving something that seems out of reach, before you can start to answer the questions you have when you first think about trying salsa.
- Do You Accept Cash?
No. All of our venues are now strictly cashless.
You can purchase classes securely online or at the venue via our payment terminals which all accept ApplePay, Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, Amex, GooglePay
- When Does The Next Course Start?
All of our class starting dates are on the timetable page.
Remember, we only allow up to the 3rd week of any course for enrolment.
- What Do I Wear?
Shoes should be proper dance shoes if possible.
If not don’t worry, just bring a pair of smooth soled shoes or trainers, the type you can walk in for about an hour and not hurt your feet. Anything that stays with your entire foot when you lift it, and allows you to pivot comfortably on hard wood floors. We advise NO slippers, mules, or footwear that leaves your heel when you lift your foot.
Flats and heels are both OK.
Sneakers are also allowed, as long as they do not cause too much friction when you pivot.
For clothes – Anything that’s comfortable and allows easy movement of your arms and legs especially.
Office wear or exercise gear is fine too. Preferably no short, tight skirts which restrict movement, and no long flowing skirts, which tend to obscure the feet. Simply wear comfortable light clothes, like cottons and breathable fabrics. Usually advisable to bring a small towel or change of top.
- Do I Need To Attend A Class With A Partner?
No. Many students come to our classes on their own or with a group of friends. In any case, during the class, you will be introduced to and partnered with your classmates. Partners will be rotated during each class so that everyone gets a chance to have a partner.
If we have an imbalance, students without partners simply wait between pairs for the next rotation. We will be rotating partners frequently throughout the class.
Please note: We do swap partners in our classes; if you do not want to swap partners we would suggest private lessons.
- What Style Of Salsa Do You Teach?
We regularly teach Cuban style salsa.
There are 3 main styles: Cuban, Crossbody (LA/NY) and Columbian. Cuban Salsa is the most popular style around the world, and the most authentic form of salsa.
In all of our clubs, we have dancers from all styles. Most dancers nowadays know the minor differences, and it is great fun dancing with people from different styles.
- Can I Just Turn Up For A Class And Pay On The Night?
It depends on which individual class, some have 10 students some have 40 plus. If you are joining a level 1 beginners class, you should book before turning up as the classes do get over booked quickly.
If you are a beginner and have never danced before, we strongly advise to start your lessons as close to the 8 weeks start date as possible. The courses do progress and get harder throughout the 8 week cycles, in order for you to move up to the next level after the end of an 8 week cycle.
If you are an improver or intermediate level dancer, and you have experience of dancing, we can be more flexible when it comes to when you can drop in, however we still do advise to drop in, as close as you can to the start date of the 8 week cycle since all levels progress, build on, and develop through the 8 weeks, getting you ready for the next level.
- How Do I Make Payment?
You can pay securely online through our website using your credit or debit card. You can also pay by card when you attend one of our classes.
All of our venues now operate strictly cashless payment only.
- What Is The Minimum Age?
16 years old is the minimum age for all of our classes.
- Can I Have Videos Of The Class Moves?
Yes we have an online subscription service.
We have our 8 week Beginners cycle and both of the 8 week Improver Cycles (both left & right) on our video subscription service. The videos are 20 minutes each and they cover the course cycles as taught in our face to face classes. The videos are yours to play back and pause on either your laptop/tv/phone.
You can learn/refresh the moves over and over again in your home, kitchen or work place.

- Refunds
All purchased classes/courses are non refundable. For cancellations of lessons/courses we offer a transferable credit. There is no charge for transferring. Credits must be used within 16 weeks of the initial purchase.
- How Do I Know What Level I Am?
We have many level offerings in all our venues. All our venues have beginners up to advanced (depending on each venue).
If you have danced before, coming back to it after a break, coming from X-body style Salsa, then please come along to the classes and speak with the teachers to see which level will be best for you. There is usually possibilities to try Level 2 which is Improvers, see how you feel, if you feel you need a little more, then to the try the Level 3 Intermediates class.
Doing 2 classes in the same night also qualifies you for a discount on that second class taken in the night.
